Analyst Michael Pachter Believes Sony will Support PS4 Through to 2023

Michael Pachter answers questions on why most Sony first party games are still coming to the PS4, and when they will be PS5 exclusive.

Pachter mentions that looking at the history of Sony and their incredible support for older generation consoles it is likely that they will still be making games for the PS4 until 2023.

Additional logic behind this is that they’d need at least 30 million PS5’s in consumer hands before it would be financially viable to exclude a console and the development costs in supporting older platforms.

It takes 3 million sales of a Triple A title to recoup the expense and he believes Sony will repeat what they did last time and you will only truly see a PS5 exclusive from a Sony first party studio in late 2022 / early 2023 and beyond.
