Sony Consoles Launch Line-up Comparisons So Far

Here at PlayStationing we were wondering what to expect with the PS5’s launch titles, so we are looking back at what Sony did on the four prior consoles to see if we can guess what could be coming to the PS5.

The table below shows all the games that released on the European launch of the consoles, this is because it was the latest region to receive the consoles, and therefore got a few extra releases.

It is clear to see that the PS2 had the largest line-up and arguably the best one in the bunch, it also was a juggernaut in terms of sales with well over 158 million units sold.

  • PS4 – 21

It seems the cost of the console plays a huge part in the success, possibly more so than the amount of games released at launch. However, it is quite clear that the better the games, the more likely your console will sell.

During the PS4’s launch, Sony was smart to announce many more “Launch window” titles with Infamous Second Son releasing only six months later.
