Many users of Samsung SmarTV’s are having blinking or flickering black screens whilst playing on their PS5’s. Here are a SIX things you can try to fix the issue.
It may sound simple, but try the HDMI cable provided with the PS5 if you aren’t already. This cable is rated to carry 4K HDR content, it should work better than your usual cables.
Are you using a “HDMI Switcher”. These can have trouble carrying the load of the 4K HDR data through them, connect directly to your TV.
Try a different HDMI port on your TV, the one you are using may be faulty or just needs a clean, experiment with different slots.
Update your TV’s firmware, sometimes something simple as this could fix the issues. New hardware is always developed long after the TV was made, chances are the company has gotten a PS5 to test their firmware and upgraded it.
Go into the PS5’s settings and disable HDR, sometimes this can conflict with certain TVs. You can also disable the ‘Game Mode’ on your TV.
- Hold down power button on you PS5 enter safe mode
- Choose option 2 – “Change Video Output”
- Set HDCP mode option 2
- Choose HDCP 1.4 only
If none of the above work you ma have to go on the hunt for a new TV, Sony and LG seem to work fine as far as we can tell.
