Sony’s press conference did not disappoint this year, last year’s was difficult to beat though. They had some massive games at the conference this year, and that’s an understatement. There was also a distinct lack of indie games. Here’s a summary of all the announcements this year:

  • God of War
    • Brand new setting, looks like Norse mythology.
    • Older Kratos, with a big bushy beard.
    • Looks completely different to the other God of War games.
    • Graphically looks fantastic.
    • Shows a young boy being taught how to hunt that calls Kratos ‘father’, but no guarantee that it is his actual son.
    • Shows a small boss battle, but doesn’t end there.
    • The boy finishes the hunt, and Kratos tells him he ‘is ready’. A dragon is showing flying towards the screen at the end.
    • Just called God of War.
  • Days Gone
    • Brand new game from Sony Bend Studios.
    • Pretty cool looking trailer, looks a little like The Last of Us.
    • Then the rest of the show continued, and at the end we got some gameplay of this games.
    • Looks like it is showing off the insane amount of ‘zombies’ that come to attack you. They die easily, but there are overwhelming numbers.
    • The game looks really good, post-apocalytic setting.
  • The Last Guardian
    • New trailer shows more than one ‘Trico’ beast.
    • Release date announced (FINALLY) October 25, 2016.
  • Horizon: Zero Dawn, new gameplay shown. Still looks good, no change there.
  • Detroit: Become Human
  • Quantic Dreams new game, shows a trailer showcasing an android negotiator, Connor, trying to save a girl from a rooftop that another android, Daniel, is holding captive.
    • Trailer ends with Daniel jumping off the rooftop with the girl.
    • Then rewinds showing how things could have turned out if you had more evidence and made different choices.
    • Looks like a masterpiece and Heavy Rain-esque.
  • Resident Evil VII for VR announced, out January 4, 2017.
  • PlayStation VR launches October 13, 2016.
    • 50 games from now till the end of the year (no clarification is this means actual end of year or financial year).
    • Farpoint – New VR game shown.
    • Battlefront – Star Wars VR game for PSVR.
    • Batman Arkham VR – Teaser trailer shown, exclusively for PSVR, out in October.
    • Final Fantasy XV trailer shown, plus a Final Fantasy XV VR Experience that is coming also.
  • Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
    • Actually looks very different from what we’ve come to expect.
    • You can go to different planets and firefights occur in space.
    • Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remaster is coming 30 days early to PS4
  • Crash Bandicoot 1, 2, and 3 HD remasters are coming, and Crash is invading Skylanders.
  • Death Stranding
    • Hideo Kojima reveals himself on stage, with his brand new project.
    • Starring Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead and what was to be Silent Hills fame.
    • Real time demo, looks good, but no gameplay shown.
    • Shows lots of dead fish and animals on a beach, and Norman Reedus standing naked.
  • Spiderman
    • PS4-exclusive!
    • In-engine trailer shown.
    • Developed by Insomniac Games NOT Sucker Punch!
