I’m a huge fan of Bethesda and the Fallout games, so I don’t know if this is just wishful thinking or not, but I’m guessing we’ll finally see the announcement of Fallout 4 at E3 2014. In one of my previous articles, Fallout 4 Probably Won’t Release in 2014, I mentioned some of the reasons I didn’t think that Fallout 4 was coming out in 2014. I still believe the game won’t release this year, but I think we’ll see the game announced this year, for several reasons.
First and foremost, The Elder Scrolls Online has now released on PC and is coming pretty soon for PS4 and Xbox One, so the focus can now start shifting towards hyping up a new game. Even though the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game are coming out after E3 2014, I’d hope that Bethesda doesn’t pass up the opportunity to announce the game at the biggest gaming event of the year.
Secondly, the next generation install base should be significantly higher next year. The PS4 is already outpacing many people’s expectations, and although the Xbox One is lagging behind, it is still doing very well. The holiday season will only increase the install bases for both consoles, so we think there’s enough of a reason to release Fallout 4 in at least late 2015.
