4A Games and Deep Silver have today released extensive playable demo versions of both Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light Redux for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The demos are available to download now from Xbox Games Store worldwide and PlayStation Network in Europe, and will hit the US PlayStation store soon.

Making full use of the new-gen consoles’ ‘Trial’ functionality, gamers can play through the opening chapters of both games. Should they wish to upgrade to the full version, they can transfer their saved games and continue their adventure seamlessly.

The Metro 2033 Redux Trial includes the first eight Chapters up to the end of ‘Dead City’. The Metro: Last Light Redux Trial includes nine Chapters up to the end of ‘Theatre’. In each case, the Trial version represents about one-third of the total game.

“We have already been humbled by the success of Metro Redux on the new consoles” said Dean Sharpe, CEO at 4A Games. “With these trials, we want to give everyone the chance to experience the unique world and the post-apocalyptic atmosphere of Metro. We were inspired by the original shareware release of Doom, and decided to give away as much of the game as we could.”

Over 1.5 million Metro Redux games have been sold worldwide, and that the compilation ‘Metro Redux’ for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One has now outsold Metro: Last Light for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in multiple territories – an unprecedented feat for a ‘Remaster.’ It is also Deep Silver’s highest rated game according to review aggregator Metacritic.
