The E3 conferences are all over, and whilst many people may argue who won in terms of the better games etc. Sony’s conference was easily the best E3 conference they’ve had. They created a lot of goodwill when they announced the PlayStation 4, and they’ve continued that streak ever since. It’s hard to believe that this is the same company that gave us the PlayStation 3 launch. So what have they done that’s so different?
Nothing too special when you look into it, all they’ve done is listened to their audience and decided that their fans know what they want. Sony could have started the show with The Last Guardian and announced nothing new on top of that, and fans would still have been very happy, but Sony announced a Final Fantasy 7 Remake, and the Kickstarter for Shenmue 3. On top of that, they announced a new IP from Media Molecule and Guerrilla Games, and showed off Naughty Dog’s Uncharted 4.
Sony’s Third Party Production & Developer Relations team started off with very little to show for themselves, with a Final Fantasy Type-0 HD being the biggest game to be made, and even then, that came out on other platforms at the same time. So Gio Corsi’s team had a lot to prove, and they have proven themselves ten times over with the announcements they made this year. Right now, Sony is doing extremely well with gamers, and their E3 conference shows just how serious they are this generation. Nintendo and Microsoft should be very worried.
