Electronic Arts’ press conference at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2014 was both intriguing and disappointing. It was intriguing because it felt very different under the leadership of new CEO Andrew Wilson. For some reason the company felt like it was going towards a more player focused goal, and were trying to give gamers what they wanted.
However, last year it felt like EA wasn’t ready to show half the things that they showed off. Most of the show was filled with technical demos and games that were clearly not ready to be shown, and then the usual sports crap (I’m well aware people like the sports games but to be honest I can’t be bothered with it any more).
Star Wars Battlefront has already been announced and I’m sure there will be a trailer or demo on stage, but the elephant in the room is Mass Effect 4. Mass Effect 3 left a slightly bitter taste in some gamers’ mouths, but it was part of one of the best new IPs of last generation. We can’t wait to see what BioWare can do with Mass Effect 4, and it could be the game that EA needs to get everyone talking about their conference this year.
