Sony Santa Monica are taking the level of detail and immersion to the next level with God of War Ragnarok. This time with the release of the Collector’s Edition and specifically the Steelbook case.

The back of the Steelbook case for the game features a few lines of text written in the Runic alphabet.

So we had a go at translating it, luckily it is simply English words written using this alphabet, see below what it translates to directly:

Notice that there are two words seemingly spelt wrong, well in fact they utilise the letter “I” or “Isa” to represent the letter “Y”. This is because not all letters existed in the “Elder” runes. However there is a letter called “Jara” which could have represented the Letter “Y” or “J”, but it appears the elder runes were preferred in this case.

TWILIGHT BEKKONS. THE BEAR AND WOLF TRAVEL THE REALMS NINE HOPING TO STOP THAT WHIKH SEEMS INEVITABLE. THEIR BOND WILL BE TESTED, I(Y)ET THEI(Y) MUST HOLD TOGETHER FOR THE GOOD OF ALL

Even the letter “C” didn’t exist, but the “K” is used as a replacement

Also it hints that the Bear and Wolf are clearly on your side, or represent Kratos and Atreus. Here is the text in a font you can copy and paste below:

ᛏᚹᛁᛚᛁᚷᚺᛏ ᛒᛖᚲᚲᛟᚾᛊ. ᛏᚺᛖ ᛒᛖᚨᚱ ᚨᚾᛞ ᚹᛟᛚᚠ ᛏᚱᚨᚢᛖᛚ ᛏᚺᛖ ᚱᛖᚨᛚᛗᛊ ᚾᛁᚾᛖ ᚺᛟᛈᛁᚾᚷ ᛏᛟ ᛊᛏᛟᛈ ᛏᚺᚨᛏ ᚹᚺᛁᚲᚺ ᛊᛖᛖᛗᛊ ᛁᚾᛖᚢᛁᛏᚨᛒᛚᛖ.ᛏᚺᛖᛁᚱ ᛒᛟᚾᛞ ᚹᛁᛚᛚ ᛒᛖ ᛏᛖᛊᛏᛖᛞ, ᛁᛖᛏ ᛏᚺᛖᛁ ᛗᚢᛊᛏ ᚺᛟᛚᛞ ᛏᛟᚷᛖᛏᚺᛖᚱ ᚠᛟᚱ ᛏᚺᛖ ᚷᛟᛟᛞ ᛟᚠ ᚨᛚᛚ
