You will have all heard this reference every time a Ratchet & Clank game is released; “it looks like a Pixar movie” and every time it rings truer. We all watched the gameplay in April’s State of Play. I expected it to be detailed, but I wasn’t expecting this…
Ray tracing has been touted for a while to be included in the game, but this level of reflections is simply unheard of!
Shiny gloves are one thing, but’s zoom in on the eye.
You can see the glove itself rendered and reflected in the cornea of Ratchet’s eye. You wouldn’t think that a small detail such as this is needed. But it’s all the small details that add up to truly “sell” a 3D scene in looking realistic.
All the effects were stunning, from the lighting, bloom, volumetric fog, wind effects, particles, physics, depth of field and the ray tracing. Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart is looking to raise the bar once again. The PS5 is shaping up to become the console with the best games.
Ratchet is unleashed on June 11th worldwide, and we can’t wait!
