Advanced Warfare, is the latest iteration of the Call of Duty franchise, and suffice to say, nobody is expecting much to changed from the previous games. However, developers, Sledgehammer Games, have said that they’ve been influenced by Naughty Dog, due to their focus on making great stories, and Call of Duty is about due for a good story.
Michael Condrey, co-founder of Sledgehammer Games said in OPM, that The Last of us did a “really good job” because it managed to create an emotional attachment between the gamer and Joel, the protagonist. Particularly because of the very first scene in the game, which Condrey believes required “a lot of development”, and could be considered a peripheral scene.
However, because Naughty Dog kept this scene, and clearly spent a lot of time developing it meant a lot to Condrey, because it created that emotional attachment that Call of Duty games tend to lack. Due to this, the story in Advanced Warfare is likely to be more emotional than previous games.
Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be available November 4, 2014, on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
