Borderlands 3 is definitely in development, nothing has been confirmed officially, but Gearbox aren’t going to give up on one of their best new IPs from the last generation. So assuming it is in development (which it is!), what does this game need to do that it’s predecessors have failed to do?
There are a lot of things that gamers may request for this game, but one that is probably at the top of many gamers’ lists is item crafting, particularly weapon and armour crafting. Borderlands prides itself on having 87 bazillion guns (which is more like 16 million), but you’ve never been able to customize weapons. Meaning you will just get random drops of a variety of configurations for the same weapon, and more often than not, you’d get exactly the same gun with the same statistics dropped.
Borderlands 3 needs to have weapon crafting to actually show that the series is moving forward, because so far in the franchise, not much has actually changed. This is one of the most-requested features for the series, and hopefully, Gearbox will listen to the fans this time round.
Borderlands 3 is yet to be announced, but I wouldn’t be surprised at a late 2016 release date.
